Welcome Kate

Katherine Haupt was born this morning!

She weighed 7lbs 15 oz, and was 20.5 inches long. We named her after Catherine Clark Smith Harrison, and in honor of Levi's Grandma Catherine Haupt, and Torrie's Grandma Mable Harris. The story of Catherine Clark Smith Harrison can be found in Women of Faith in the Latter Days By Brittany Chapman.

Torrie and Kate are doing great! Here are a few pictures for all those that have been anxiously waiting.

Her sisters want to take her home now!

She has lots of dark brown hair like her sisters did.

We think she looks just like our other two precious girls and fits right in!
Welcome Kate, we are so excited you are here!

Please pardon the Interruption

I really did mean to post about Christmas, and January and February before this but.... this was more important !

Our third girl is due in April and we got a rare opportunity to get a 4D image and video of her. ( To see the video you must go to the actual blog not just the reminder email.)  I am just amazed by the technology available to us and very grateful for a sweet Stenographer who was very patient and persistent.   This little angel was a little camera shy (or dramatic I'm not sure which) and had her hands up in front of her face almost the entire time. But we got her!

It makes it very real, especially since we can already see she looks so much like her sisters.  It was neat to see in the above video her practice breathing and a little smile if you look closely.

"back seat" cook?

I am very grateful for all the help that both Levi and Emma have given to me during this second pregnancy. I haven't had too many of the crazy midnight "go get it, or die" cravings. My biggest complaint is how tired I have been! Holy Moly, of course I blame Emma for most of this . One of the things I have seriously slacked on is cooking, me and food just don't get along during pregnancy.
I have felt guilty for not cooking more, between being sick and or in pain my sweet husband has had to fend for himself and Emma more often than not. My guilt is eased however when the two of them work together even if it isn't quite harmonious because its quite humorous.

Levi and Emma are both quite opinionated, which of course all of you know that I am not :), and so its quite entertaining when they have a task to complete together. Emma in the last few months has turned into quite the cute little helper, she is so eager, I know I should just enjoy it because it won't last long. She's so good at putting away the dishes and helping me load laundry into the dryer, its just so precious. So I was very excited when Levi announced he was making dinner and Emma ran to get her apron. Just last night,we had a two for one, Emma and Levi made burritos for dinner and a new incident to be posted.

Pregnancy No-No

When we were pregnant with Emma Torrie bought me a cool book for soon-to-be dads. It talked about all the stuff you should be aware of, or what you should expect from a guys point of view. Well I should have known better and gone back to the bookstore to find the sequel as soon as we found out Torrie was pregnant this time.

Soon after Torrie and Emma came home from Orlando we went to have an ultrasound done. Torrie wanted Emma to come and be apart of the experience. During the visit Emma was very nervous, she did not like the dark room and couldn't figure out why mommy was letting some lady rub stuff on her tummy. Later that week I tried to help Emma comprehend what is happening, especially since it may be a rough ride for our little princess when the "other" princess comes.

Emma's Sissy saying hello.

When we had a quite moment one night I brought Emma over to Torrie who was trying to get comfortable on the couch. I asked Emma where her "Sissy" was. Emma loves this game of finding something that is missing, so she instantly turned her palms up and asked "where?". Torrie played along and rubbed her tummy saying "she's in here", to which Emma asked "where?".

This is where my common sense left the room. I told Emma she was under Torrie's shirt, so Emma started tearing through the layers. Once she got to Torrie's belly button I told Emma to look inside. Of course she did. It was a cute moment, but again I didn't consider the implications.

Later in the week I asked again "where is Sissy" to which Emma promptly ran to Torrie and started after her belly. This time Emma wanted to tickle Sissy. As Torrie tried to hold off the attack she exclaimed "There is no respect for my body in this house!" The final straw broke when we were at church and Emma was sitting on Torrie's lap. Emma turned around and asked "Sissy?" Torrie had a hard time holding her off, and now I have lost the privilege to sit next to Torrie with Emma between us.

If only I had gotten a second book to help me learn what not to do when a two-year old is involved.

It's A ...!

Well today was a pretty exciting day. Torrie and I went to Torrie's 18 week prenatal appointment. We were able to hear the heart beat, which was an adventure. When the nurse tried to find the heart beat the baby kicked several times. After we were able to hear loud and clear the nurse commented "well you definitely have a little personality in there", to which Torrie promptly replied "we already have plenty of personality out here (i.e Emma)!". After the visit with the nurse we went and saw the stenographer who was kind enough to do an ultrasound to determine the sex. As she was looking for the best view the baby was going crazy kicking at the stenographer. Right before she got the shot she was looking for she asked "any predictions?" This prompted us to ask everyone what they think we are having. As you guess feel free to leave comments as to your reasoning, and remember I come from a family of 5 boys and 2 girls and Torrie comes from a family of 3 girls ~which may or may not help you ;). A little hint.... we have hidden the answer somewhere on our blog. We can't wait to hear what you have to say!

A Rumble in my Tummy

Its amazing to me how much the second pregnancy is different than the first. At least mine has been, its what gives me hope. For a while I was convinced that Emma would be an only child because I was too chicken. Back to my original point, I realized I was pregnant a lot sooner. I felt the growing pains sooner, which is almost fun. I'm not a fan of the baby sitting so low, I feel that if I sneeze I'll have issues.... But, the best part of this second pregnancy is being able to recognize the movements-aka fluttering sooner. I've been feeling little "flip-flops" as I drift off to sleep at night for a while now, however today it was in the middle of the day. This very pronounced somersault as I sat down. There is definitely a little being in there, who is developing rapidly both physically as well as a personality. Emma definitely had her personality "in-utero" I''m excited to see this next one and I have a feeling I'll know him/her, like I did Emma, instantly because of that personality..... Kids are incredible, you just gotta love 'em!
